Band history

Under the leadership of the music manager Lou Pearlman and the producer team of Triple – M, they began a talent search in the start of the year 2005. The private Channel RTL II helped them, where the show was broadcasted. The show was broadcasted as “Big In America” to create an ultimate boy band, and would hopefully be as equally successful as the former boy group “Backstreet Boys” in which Lou Pearlman had once managed.

Originally, it was supposed to be four American and British guys facing each other to fight for five places at the end of the show. After trials of fitness tests, performances and coaching in Germany and the sunny Florida, the final came close. Finally, there were two American guys that were Richie and Izzy, and the British man was Jay. Last but not least, Chris and Mikel, both German won the vote of Lou Pearlman and came to be the last members of the successful boy group. US5 was born.



When the lads released their first single called “Maria”, a summer pop hit sensation; it shot up in the American charts onto the 6th place. A success in Germany had gotten around US5 and had an incredible ending, resulting in them not being on the charts at all from the first week, onto being 2nd in the German charts on the second week and finally the amazing 1st place on the third week. A few weeks later “Maria” was promoted in a record time for getting a radio hit in Germany.



US5 (as in *us [a team] five*) quickly became one of the highlights of 2005. With enormous amounts of festivals to play at, this created a large amount of focus for the headlines. Appearances in TV Shows, Music Channels and hours of autograph signing meant that things had to be cancelled due to an overload of invitations of the media world and the number of people attending US5 autograph. All these criticisms were ignored once the second single of the pop legend boy group was released; the name of which was to be “Just because of you”, and emotion-filled pop song.

At the end of 2005, “Here We Go” was out. The stunning album could reflect the desperately desired debut album of the glorious five that had potential talent.

In their second year, the impressive US5 career came more successfully. With a sold out tour through Germany with their first complete own show and with their third single “Come Back To Me Baby” a new success started.

The new edition of the album “Here We Go New Edition” with new tracks and many other extras created another chart leap into the top 10 German album charts. In May, “Mama” became the fourth single of US5 and it also became very victorious in the charts.

Meanwhile, other foreign countries also seemed to be interested in the new talent that had been born in the show called “Big In America”. Appearances and promotions in Great Britain and Russia was the first step to the triumphant international success of US5.

In October 2006, another single followed for US5 called “In The Club”. It appeared with lots of Bonus materials as a thank you to the fans for the long – term loyalty. The first attempt into the German charts was very successful, as it rocketed to 2nd place.



The second album “In Control” appeared in November 2006 and continued to impress the press and the fans. A jump from not being in the charts and entering the top 10 German album charts was the mad result in Germany. In Poland, the album had already reached gold status before the publication (12.02.07) by the pure advanced bookings. In February 2007, the honour of a golden record for the first album followed in Poland, “Here We Go”, which is still an honour after the course of having a platinum record.



With the second single released taken from the album “In Control”, US5 could again enter into the charts, which resulted in a 2nd place position in the charts. In Austria, the single made it into the top 10 of the Austrian charts. This meant a deserved prize for US5, being awarded the “International Golden Camera” in Berlin as best Pop Act.



On the 17th of March they had the “steigerarward” in the jahunderthalle (the arena in Germany) from Bochum (a place in Germany) in the category of newcomer.



A full success had been received so far but this was not a reason for the 5 boys to rest. Further preparations had to be made in order to win the hearts of the people in Asia, another continent to turn into what they called “US5-Maria”. In June 2007 their seventh single “Rhythm Of Life” entered into publicity a week before entering the German charts onto the 4th place. In Austria it was in the top ten again.

Remarkably, all these seven singles were released with expectations of hitting the German top 5 every time, and they never seemed to fail, and this succession still seems to go on… In November 2007, the five boys will again face an audience of those from Germany, Austria and Poland on their European Tour!

uzivam u svakoj sekundi!posao mi predstavlja pravo zadovoljstvo i ja se radujem svakom danu!retko kad sam lose volje.to je obicno kad se ljutim sto mi je pobegao avion ili ne stignem da odem kod frizera jer imam previse obaveza,ali inace bavim se zbijanjem sala pricanjem viceva i uvek sam raspolozen za zezanje-takav sam.ne dozvoljavam da me neko zarazi losim raspolozenjem.uvek i svuda sam cool.nista mi ne znaci ovaj svet soubiza,sa svim njegovim povrsnim i pogresnim ljudima.ja to posmatram ovako:ako je neko ok prema meni onda sam ja ok prema njemu.to neznaci da automatski i da simpatisem tu osobu,jer meni treba dosta vremena da stvarno steknem poverenje u nekoga.ista situacija je bila sa jayem izzyjem chrisom i richejem ipak vremenom sam se sprijateljio sa njima.cak se i sam sebi cudim koliko su mi ti ludaci postali dragi!uprkos tome uvek sam bio i bicu svoj.uvek radim po svome tako je bilo jos dok sam isao u skolu.imao sam svoje drustvo ali nikada nisam dozvoljavao da neko utice na mene.kada bi moji drugovi dosli na ideju da naprave neku glupost da bi impresionirali devojke ja nisam ucestvovao u tome!meni se nikad nije dopadalo ponasanje:zelim da izgledam cool i zato se ponasam kao gangster-i bio sam u pravu!jer neki od mojih tadasnjih drugova su sada u zatvoru.ne ja radim samo ono sto ja mislim da je cool!ipak ovakav stav moze da izazove nevolje,pogotovo u okviru grupe us5.npr:nedozvoljavam da mi neko naredjujekako da se ponasam kad da ustanem dali smem da napravim zurku!zelim sam da odlucujem o tome!zaista!ali zbog benda moram da se pridrzavam bas nekih pravila i zato sam se navikao da pravim kompromise bar mogu da kazem da jos uvek radim na tome ali nedozvoljavam da bilo ko vrsi los uticaj!otkacen sam u pozitivnom smislu i takav cu i ostati!

"Varate se ako mislite da me je promenio uspeh koji je doživela grupa US5 tokom prošle godine! Još uvek sam isti onaj Richie koji sam bio pre šou programa "Big in America". Pomeren! Otkačen! Veseo! U Americi bi rekli "dork" ili,u prevodu spadalo. To misle o meni moji prijatelji iz Wheatona/Illinois. Ali,oni to misle u najboljem smislu te reči. ja sam oduvek bio takav. I u školi sam bio jedan od onih momaka koji startuju starije devojke. Iz zabave. I zato što sam mislio da je cool zabavljati se sa starijom devojkom. Osim toga, volim horor-filmove, Noć veštica i Kuće strave. To nije normalno i meni je to savršeno jasno. Ali, ja sam takav i stojim iza toga. Sasvim mi je svejedno šta drugi misle! U svakom slučaju, druženje sa mnom je najveća zabava na svetu! Uvek sam spreman za avanturu iako mi, naravno rad sa grupom US5 ne dozvoljava da radim sve što želim. Moj moto inače glasi:Živi svaki dan kao da ti je poslednji! Samo što to više ne ide! Ponekad kad legnem uveče u krevet, pomislim:Šta ako se ujutru ne probudim? Plesao sam, pevao, radio. A inače? Da li sam stvarno živeo?! Na primer, još nikad nisam skakao bandžijem. Planiram da uradim to bar jednom da bih pobedio strah od visine. Do sada sam se jednostavno plašio,a sada trenutno nemam vremena za to kao ni za mnogo čega drugog! Trenutno bih najviše voleo da kupim jedan veliki šator i jednostavno provedem vikend kampujući u planini ne zato što želim da pobegnem od nečega, već zato što sam to kao dete često radio. Voleo bih da kampujem u nekoj ukletoj šumi kao u horor-filmu "The Blair Witch Project", sa pravim vešticama... Odlutao sam. Mogao bih da blebećem po ceo dan. Ali sasvim je drugačije kada moram nešto da kažem, kao npr. u intervjuima. Tada mi se ponekad uopšte ne govori. Upravo tokom poslednjih nekoliko meseci sve češće me tretiraju kao frontmena grupe US5 tako da sam se iznenada našao u samom centru pažnje. A pritom sam sve drugo samo ne šef! sebe vidim pre svega kao finog dečka koji pre svega voli da sluša druge, a kao "šef" odjednom sam dobio preveliku odgovornost! Sve oči su uprte u mene i stalno moram da pazim šta radim. Uh... Ali, tako se jednostavno desilo. Tražili ste, gledajte!A za mene je zapovest ono što moji fanovi žele ;-) Nikada mi ne bi palo na pamet da se žalim. Oduvek sam želeo da postanem slavan. Odmalena sam sanjao o tome. Ja volim svoj život! I to baš takav kakavje, sa svim usponima i padovima! Vera mi daje snagu da sve prevaziđem! Iz dana u dan sam sve jači! Što se tiče poslovne budućnosti, sebi želim još mnogo albuma sa grupom US5. Želim da Chris, Izzy, Mikel, Jaz i jajoš dugo ostanemo zajedno. I to će tako biti. Privatno sanjam o tome da osnujem porodicu.Kada dođe vreme za to, želim da moja mama postane baka. Želim da imam kuću u Kaliforniji, negde gde je toplo. Želim da vidim moju decu-najbolje njih dvoje-kako se igraju u dvorištu moje kuće. Želim da otvorim i lunapark u znaku Noći veštica. Jednostavno želim da budem SREĆAN!"

Iskreno vam kažem, tokom posljednih nekoliko nedelja nije se desilo mnogo toga što bi moglo zaista da me obraduje.Potpuno me je dotukla nesreća koju sam doživio tokom poslednje turneje kada sam povrijedio kičmu.Jer,ja živim za te nastupe na bini.Užasno sam se radovao odlasku na turneju.Ne postoje riječi kojima bih mogao da vam opišem taj osjećaj!A onda mi se desilo nešto strašno!!!Odjednom više nisam mogao da hodam,a kamoli da plešem.Pomislio sam da me je neko prokleo.Zatim je uslijedila operacije-sada svakog dana moram da idem na rehabilitaciju:ponovo učim da hodam.Proći će još nekoliko mjeseci dok ponovo ne postanem onaj «stari».Dođe mi da viknem:«Sranje!» zato što ne mogu da radim ono što želim.Osjećam se kao da sam vezan za jedno mjesto,a sjedenje me izluđuje!Ja nisam čovijek kome je potreban odmor!Ja sam uvijek bio u pokretu-i duhovno i tjelesno.A sada sam primoran da mirujem,pa imam mnogo vremena za razmišljanje.Nemojte pogrešno da me razumijete,ja sam optimista po prirodi,ali u posljednje vrijeme često se pitam da li sam stvarno dobar čovijek.Da li bi trebao da se promijenim?Da li bi trebao da oćutim ponekad?Ne postoji nijedan konkretan razlog zašto tako razmišljam i sumnjam u sebe...Ah,ni sam ne mogu to tačno da vam opišem.Ponekad sam jednostavno zbunjen.Možda je to zato što se moj život mijenja iz dana u dan.Ništa ne mogu da radim «napamet»!I promijena koju sam doživio poslije «Big in America» je zaista drastična.Ranije sam bio samo dijete koje je sviralo u raznim bendovima da bi postalo NEKO.Ali,moji vidici su se jako proširili!Doživio sam nevjerovatne stvari!Više nisam pun negativne energije.Ranije sam se tukao i jako sam negodovao kada bi me neko iznervirao.Rad sa grupom US5 mi je pomogao da se ponašam profesijonalnije.Postao sam otvoreniji.I,iskreno više ne želim da se sekiram ni zbog čega.Baš ni zbog čega.Samo želim da budem sretan!Živim kao i svi drugi momci:imam i uspona i padova,a svako iskustvo me čini bogatijim.Svakog dana se molim(stvarno to radim!)da i ubuduće budem tako jek-zbog benda,mog sna i vas,naših obožavalaca!Hvala vam što postojite!

Stvarno je pravo ludilo to što nam se doodle telecom posljednih mjeseci!Za tako kratko vrijeme izašli smo iz anonimnosti i doživjeli ogroman uspjeh!Vau!Ponekad ostanem bez daha kada razmišljam o tome.Neću vam ništa novo otkriti ako vam kažem da je to veliki stres...Moja prednost u ovom brzom i površnom biznisu su moje 24 godine životnog iskustva.Ni za što na svijetu ne bih se mijenjao s Richijem ili Mikelom!Oni neke stvari uzimaju previše srcu zato što su jako mladi.Ali i ja sam naučio neke stvari «u hodu».U prvoj fazi postojanja grupe US5 i ja sam bio opterećen perfekcionuzmom.Mislio sam da sve mora biti kako treba i kako što da promijenimo!Sada sam puno opušteniji,jer sam prepoznao veliki potencijal ove grupe.Sada znam koliko možemo!Turneja je bila najveći izazov s kojim smo se suočili posljednih tjedana.Pitao sam se hoćemo li izdržati.I da zlo bude još veće,zadesile su nas i neke druge stvari:skoro pa nismo imali vremena pripremiti se,Richie je doživio skandal u WC-u,a Izzy se ozbiljno povrijedio...Unaotoč svemu tome,uspjeli smo!Naravno,postoje trenutci kada sam potpuno iscrpljen,ali onda pomislim kako li je gospođi Mueller koja radi kao blagajnica u ogromnom supermarketu,ima muža koji ju vara i djecu koja neće učiti.Onda pomislim:na što se ja to žalim?Pa,ja sam vidjeo svijet!Bavim se poslom koji volim –glazbom!I još zarađujem dosta love!Iskreno govoreći,kada bih se sad žalio,onda bih to značilo da nisam stvoren za ovaj posao.Ali o ovome sam oduvijek sanjao.Nijednog trenutka nisam sumnjao u to.Kada sam vidio našu fotku na naslovnoj strani BRAVA,poludio sam od sreće!Ne mogu vam opisati kako sam se tada osjećao!To je za mene bio znak da sam radio na ostvarenju pravog sna!Ne znam otkud mi toliko samopouzdanja.Možda je genetsko naslijeđe.Moj otac je u 17. godini ovamo iz Trćeg svijeta-iz Pakistana.Ništa nije imao,a stvorio je firmu,posjeduje restoran,ima obitelj i kuću u Engleskoj.U obitelji sam naučio kako se postaje jaka ličnost.Imao sam dobar odgoj,nisam doživio ništa što bi me moglo izbaciti s pravog puta.Nikada nisam imao velike probleme.Pa,ipak:moj život još uvijek nije onakav kakav bih ja želio da bude!Mnogo toga mi nedostaje.Npr.moja obitelj i prijatelji.Često maštam o tome da pronađem djevojku.Najviše bih volio da ona nema nikakve veze s ovim otkačenim poslom.Da s njom imam svoje malo ljubavno gnijezdo.Da mi odvraća pažnju od US5.No trenutno 70 posto svog vremena razmišljam o poslu.Osjećam kao da mi je dana šansa i moram izvući maksimum iz sebe!To se odnosi i na cijeli bend US5.Volim US5,ja ću biti posljednji koji će napustiti ovaj projekt.Ipak,znam da US5 neće uvijek postojati.Za deset godina volio bih snimiti svog drugog «James Bonda».Definitivno se planiram jednog dana posvetiti glumi!Želim u 60. godini pogledati unazad i reći:«Stvarno sam proživio život!»Želim biti zadovoljan sobom.Želim da moj život bude sjajan i uzbudljiv! Na doborm sam putu da tako stvarno i bude-a još uvijek nisam ni blizu ostvarenju svojih ciljeva!

Juni ist endlich ist klar, welche neue Boyband ab jetzt die Spitzen der internationalen Charts dominieren wird: US5, die neue deutsch-amerikanische Band aus der Kaderschmiede von Popmogul Lou Pearlman wurde im Sunshine State Florida aus der Taufe gehoben und landete mit Ihrer Debütsingle als Neueinstieg in den USA gleich auf Platz 6 in den amerikanischen Billboard Sales Charts. „Dies ist die ultimative Boyband“ freut sich Pearlman, der sich auf die Flagge seines Musikimperiums TransContinental geschrieben hat, dass er „solange es Mädchen gibt, Boybands schaffen werde“. Und so liest sich sein Portfolio auch wie das Who’s Who internationaler Poperfolge: Backstreet Boys, N’Sync. O-Town, Natural, um nur einige zu nennen. Über 65 Millionen Alben hat Lou Pearlman mit seinen Acts verkauft und US5 zeigen uns in ihrem Video eindeutig, wohin auch für sie die Reise gehen wird: geradewegs an die Spitze, und zwar weltweit. Das Video zu MARIA, das am 11. Juni auf Viva premierte, zeigt Chris, Izzy, Jay, Michael und Richie von US5 entsprechend in den Metropolen dieser Erde, wo sie zwischen Rio. London, New York, Tokio und Paris nach bester Herzensbrechermanier die “Maria” dieser Welt becircen. US5 (im Sinne von „WIR FÜNF“) besteht aus den zwei deutschen Sängern und Performern Chris und Michael, dem Briten Jay und ihren amerikanischen Kollegen Izzy und Richie. Und zu demonstrieren, dass die Summe nochmals größer ist als ihre Teile, darauf brennen die 5 Boys von US5, wenn sie Ende Juni nach Deutschland kommen, um Ihre Single MARIA zu promoten. Auch die deutschen “Ziehväter” der Band, das renommierte Berliner Produzentenduo Mike Michaels und Mark Dollar von Triple M Music sind stolz auf die Jungs: ”Jeder Einzelne der Fünf hat so viel musikalisches und tänzerisches Talent – und zusammen sind sie einfach unschlagbar!“

US5, the American group from Pop Mogul Lou Pearlman, was formed from the hit TV reality show “Big in America.” The series narrowed down a list of young men by sending them through a mini industry boot camp to develop their talent. Broadcast on one of the biggest networks in Germany, the frenzy over this sensation began before they could catch their breath. They hit No. 1 on the German Billboard Charts with their debut single “Maria” and received the German Radio Music Award for “Best Newcomer 2005.”

“This is the ultimate boy band” says Pearlman, proud of his musical empire Trans Continental Records. He has explained, “As long as God keeps making little girls, there will always be boy bands.” His portfolio reads like the Who’s Who of international pop success with names such as the Backstreet Boys, ‘N SYNC, LFO and O-Town, just to name a few. Pearlman and his acts have sold over 65 million albums and with the addition of US5 to the roster, millions more will be added.

US5 consists of Michael, Chris, Jay, Izzy and Richie. The group now lives in Berlin and is working with the famous Berlin production duet, Mike Michaels and Mark Dollar of Triple M Music. Michaels and Dollar boast about the boys, “Each of the five has so much musical and dancing talent that together they are easily unbeatable!”

Wie alles begang


Wer schafft es, "Big In America" zu werden? Das war die Frage, um die sich in der gleichnamigen TV-Doku-Soap, die 2005 auf den Sendern Viva und RTL II ausgestrahlt wurde, alles drehte. Der US-amerikanischen Boyband-Macher Lou Pearlman, der unter anderem auch Bands wie *NSync, den Backstreet Boys, Natural und O-Town zu Erfolg verholfen hatte, stellte in der siebenteiligen Dokusoap eine Band, bestehend aus zwei Amerikanern, zwei Deutschen und einem Engländer, zusammen und zielt dabei direkt auf die größten Musikmärkte. Zu Beginn der Show standen bereits Christopher Richard Stringini "Richie", Jay Khan sowie Izzy Galegos als Bandmitglieder für US 5 fest. In "Big in America" konnten sich nun vier deutsche Jungs unter Beweis stellen und sich ihren Platz in der Band erkämpfen. Schließlich setzten sich Christoph Watrin "Chris", und Michael Johnson "Mikel" gegen ihre Kontrahenten durch. Die im Juli 2005 erschienen Debutsingle "Maria" stieg direkt auf Platz 2 der Deutschen Singlecharts ein und hielt sich vier Wochen auf Platz 1. Auch die darauf folgenden Single "Just because of you" hielt sich mehrer Wochen in den Top 3. Ende 2005 brachte die Band außerdem eine DVD heraus: "US 5 - The History". Die gerade erschienene Single "Come back to me Baby" befindet sich auf Platz vier der Viva Trendcharts. Jetzt warten wir ab, wie es bei der nächsten Single „Mama“ sein wird. Die Jungs schreiben für ihre Mama, und das wird am 05.05.06 als Geschenk an alle Müttern am Muttertag erscheinen. Den ersten Teil ihrer HERE WE GO TOUR 2006 haben US 5 bereits erfolgreich hinter sich gebracht und zumeist in ausverkauften Hallen gespielt. Auch wenn der Band, unter anderem durch die derzeitige Verletzung des 22-jährigen Izzy, immer wieder Steine in den Weg gelegt werden, gehören sie zu den derzeit beliebtesten Popstars. Im Mai 2006 wird voraussichtlich der zweite Teil ihrer Tour starten und man rechnet wieder mit ausverkauften Hallen.
